Brimming with bold, clean colors, Fabio Sanzogni’s canvases express an emotional state of being. “An idea in space, not a definite object, is the major subject in the paintings,” says the artist. Integrating Eastern and Western techniques, Sanzogni creates landscapes and bodies imbued with the energy of life and creation. A sense of wonder is present in the bright reds, yellows and greens, giving his work a highly charged aura. With interaction as interplay, Sanzogni plays with a changing style. Orderly geometry is clearly and neatly at woven, or the viewer sees something more nebulous and loose. Either way, Sanzogni’s philosophy —that art is civilization’s map—is highly noted.

Born in Italy, Sanzogni studied at an Atelier under the direction of master set designers and artists, producing over 120 theatrical sets for ballet, opera, TV, and the Torino Olympics. He has resided in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1992, and since then, has merged his fine art with an architectural decoration practice. His work can be seen in restaurants, hotels and residences in Northern California, including Castello di Amorosa Winery in Napa.
