Andrea Spagnolo's dreamy photography explores modern landscape through color and light. Spagnolo shoots the essence of nature: an ocean ripple, a bare tree branch, or the burning sun framed tightly so that nothing else seems to exist. Blurry and highly saturated, these works tell their story through intense, atmospheric tone contrasts. The artist will depict the rare urban skyline, but it is softened until it is more a collection of shapes and lights than anything reflecting the hard steel and glass that one would expect.

In some of Spagnolo's works, the photographs become so diffused that they merge with abstraction. In these pieces, Spagnolo eschews any signifier outside of color altogether, going so far as to eliminate the horizon line. Only a certain watery tone of blue or a hint of how the sun-like yellow fades into orange lets the viewer know that they are, indeed, landscapes.

Spagnolo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and today lives in the nearby Olivos. She has exhibited widely in Argentina, Spain, Colombia, Argentinean embassy in Panama, New York and Miami.
