Yesica Aranda González
October 28 - October 31, 2021
Reception: Thursday, October 28, 2021, 6-8 PM
InquireYesica Aranda grew up in Bolaños de Calatrava, Spain, where the carefree exploration of nature fostered her enjoyment of the present moment, an overarching theme in her photographic work. Embracing the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, a philosophy celebrating the beautiful imperfections of our transient environment, Aranda captures whispers of the ephemeral. Her pictures reveal the subtle transitions of reality, almost imperceptible to the naked eye. Crossing the line between the visible and the invisible, Aranda blurs the contours of her subjects, sublimating them to pure abstract shapes. Concealed behind a layer of bright light, the physical world - grassy fields, oceanic views, and cloudy skies - is only evoked as a faint memory of something that has already come to pass. Aranda has a clear message for us. As a society we have become unresponsive to stimuli; developing an ever growing insensitivity to our surroundings. Her photographs are meant to retrain our senses, so that we can perceive the marvelous imperfections of objects, places, and nature in their rawest, most unadulterated form.
Aranda studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid and earned a Doctorate Degree in Art Therapy and Art Education for Social Inclusion. Alongside photography, she discovered a passion for teaching and runs art therapy projects for students with special needs. She currently lives and works in Miami, Florida.
