Lerone Pieters' photography expresses both his technical and aesthetic prodigy with color. His previous employ as a color grader demonstrates an ultra-fine eye for minor (and major) explorations in hue, saturation, tinting, and lighting. However, he ultimately prefers the analog standbys of photographic creativity: different times of day, varied weather, seasons, elevation, and angle.

His native New York City serves as limitless subject matter for his analog and digital photography. Stories that might otherwise be lost to the visual, impersonal din of the city are given new life. Tableaux of emotion and expressiveness are enlivened and loudened by placing the images on a new rotational axis with color and effects. From this new standpoint, Pieters creates seasons, as it were, in otherwise stationary vignettes. Shoppers hiding under umbrellas, darting home in the rain; an older man in the shade staring into the harbor with the unmistakable backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge, that inorganic bridge contrasted by the life-giving sunshine. The overall adumbrated tone of his oeuvre is, in part, a tribute to lost friends and loved ones.

Images of Pieters' have appeared in work by the Associated Press, Adobe, La Semana Newspaper, the November 2019 cover of Virgin Australia Magazine, and others. He was also an Unsplash Image of the Year finalist for 2018 and 2020.
