The photographs of Joana Cruz seek to question and explore the mysteries of life that speak to the artist. Cruz seeks to decipher the language of nature, unpacking its complexities and peering beyond the physical world into the invisible. By contemplating the idea of appearance, Cruz hopes to establish a bigger understanding between her and the natural world and how the visible and imperceptible relate to and explain one another. With her work, Cruz hopes to be able to convey at least some of the stories the things around us can tell, albeit without words.
