Inquire Buy on ARTmineTeeming with interesting characters of varying ferocity, indifference, anonymity, and good-will, Bhairavi Modi’s folkloric oil paintings tell colorful stories. Passing, pausing and swelling, her figures move across the canvas displaying rich narrative both original creations and historical accounts. Modi puts forth her work both as a visual treat and a showcase of the richness of her native Gujarat culture. Modi gains her inspiration from the people living in and around her local area: beginning with sketching the children of the slums, Modi’s art practice progressed from charcoal to oil painting.
Modi lives and works as an artist full-time in the town of Ahmedabad located in the state of Gujarat, India.
