Inquire Buy on ARTmineUsing various methods of photography, Chris Manfield demonstrates unconventional and varying mixed media versions of the practice. Manfield employs techniques such as cyanotype (a chemical process that uses light to print on surfaces resulting in blue imagery) like in Blue Climate, Giclee printing, as in Hold and other alternative photographic techniques. Interested in anthropological discourse, through his work Manfield seeks to open up conversation around environmental sustainability and institutional reform. In Portrait of Sequoia Manfield uses photography, along with alternative photographic processes, adding charred bark and human hair to punctuate the piece and infuse a political message keeping with his commitment to create a safe space around which current issues can be discussed.
Manfield lives and works in Crestone, CO.
