Chemical stains and fissures mark Veronica Benedetti’s works. Like a Polaroid photo shaken too vigorously, her photos display its entrails obscured, static and ghostly. It is no surprise that Benedetti’s interest in analog as well as digital photography led her to study at John Kaverdash Academy of Photography in Milan. Analog chemical processes, then, trademark the works of Benedetti where one can insert the imaginary into her abstraction like looking for familiar things in the clouds. Indeed, her works call forth a star here, a planet there, a glittering supernova; or perhaps simply a water-stain, a chemical reaction — which is all photography really is in the end.
Benedetti lives and works in Milan.
