Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition
February 16 - March 10, 2021
Reception: Thursday, February 18, 2021, 6-8 PM
InquireSabrina Nelson was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up amidst the city’s infamous protests for racial equality of the 1960’s and 70’s. That experience helped inform her journey to being a creator and educator.
Nelson has over three decades of experience in the arts including her studio practice, teaching, and arts administration work. Her mixed-media artworks take the form of installations, sculptures, performances art, and decorative art. Nelson’s work tackles issues of Black feminism, grief, and racist acts of violence.
The artist currently teaches at DIA and holds a degree from CCS. Her work can be found in private and public collections around the United States, and has been exhibited both domestically and internationally at an impressive list of important cultural institutions and galleries.
