InquireA signal feature of Mario Caragliano’s artistic practice is his use of digital technology—a hallmark of the new—to realize images that look weathered and from another time. Without imitating any other photographer’s style, Caragliano is able to recreate the nostalgic impression of photographs from a bygone period.
The black-and-white photo Ulviol is a perfect example of what Caragliano achieves. The image shows a mother embracing her child. This activity is in itself universal. What lends the photo an aspect of modernity, however, is the angle from which its taken, which defies classical precedents.
