Mexican photographer Cecilia Manzanares Vargas’ captivating works explore the relationship between photography, sculpture and painting. Working in primarily digital photography with natural light, the artist’s most recent works comprise of the fragmentation of highly saturated vegetables into geometric shapes, such as the square. The artist’s recent oeuvre furthermore both challenges and pays homage to the digital pixel as each vegetable unit exudes both harmony and variation in hues. Her work reflects a mastery over depth of color, repetition, abstraction, and geometry and serves as an analysis of identity and individuality.
