Documentary photographer and filmmaker Michela Carmazzi’s compelling works exude both nostalgia and the nuances of memory, emotion, and relationships within the lives of the ordinary. Her snapshot-like framing of her compositions allow her photographs to emanate deep intimacy within the banal. Her subjects are often photographed performing everyday tasks; women watering their lawns, an Italian man falling asleep in front of the television, elderly housewives sleepily applying lipstick to wrinkled skin reflect a shared familiarity of the human experience. The artist is currently based in London.
