With his art, Guanzhong Ge plays the part of societal bystander, independent of bias, preconceptions, and prejudices. He deals in sensitive themes, although not gratuitously, preferring restraint and self-sustainability, providing viewers the opportunity to rely on their own psychological projections.
Guanzhong marries the traditional Chinese and European styles of paintings and frescoes with the contemporary expressions of emotion and composition. His work is a mixture of synthetic materials. He uses ink, watercolor, and mineral pigments to transpose his paranoid interest of magnificent colors and complicated details onto his grand compositions. Those compositions are steeped in metaphor and meaning. They are overt and subliminal. In Show Must Go On and Start Off, Guanzhong pays homage to the wisdom of the ancient traditions as he mingles with the modernity of surrealism.
