Ed Belbruno's Abstract Expressionist paintings project an alternate sense of reality, one which is not based solely on what is visible, but rather another reality that is created by allowing his subconscious to freely express itself. A former NASA scientist with a doctorate in Mathematics, Belbruno’s art plays with concepts of time and dimension, microwave radiation from the Big Bang, alien landscapes, and night skies. Furthermore, his work inspired ideas for scientific discoveries and mathematical formulas. Belbruno sees art and science as working in tandem; balancing intuition, creativity, and logic. Approaching his work with the spirit of chaotic discovery, he constantly experiments with a variety of styles, explores alternative techniques, and introduces new narratives. Belbruno’s paintings search for beauty in the universe, harmony in the cosmos, and his feelings in the here and now.

Belbruno currently lives in New Jersey, where he balances his full-time art career with a position at Princeton University. He recently received Germany's prestigious Humboldt Research Award for his achievements in mathematics and will spend a year at the University of Augsburg starting in the spring of 2018.
