Inquire View CatalogBorn and raised in Okinawa, Japan, up-and-coming artist Tsuhako Maria has remained steadfast to continually create art which is both open and honest. Through color, Maria unleashes her subliminal thoughts onto canvas, bearing her inner life for viewers to see. Over Tsuhako’s years of practice and exploration, she has come to the understanding that in order to paint with certainty she must be aligned mentally and at heart.
An abstraction workshop taken in Arizona in 2017 under Marianne Mitchell exposed Tsuhako to a more spiritual artistic expression through light and dark contrasting landscapes. With simplicity, fewer colors, and overall more intention, Tsuhako realized the power and comfort of abstract painting and has since been her preferred stylistic choice. And this approach has allowed her to emotionally detach from negative feelings and experiences to create positive artworks.
