Inquire Buy on ARTmineMexican-born Carlos Arango (aka clos) creates paintings that are painstakingly crafted to mimic a childlike naiveté. They communicate existentialist themes, such as the nature of happiness and the meaning of war. Inspired by the Expressionist turn in New York in the 80s, clos uses riotous colors and graffiti-like language to communicate a singular vision.
Holocaust is a salient tribute to the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Crucifixes, hearts, and even a crown adorn the canvas in homage to the street culture of New York that existed during the late 70s and early 80s, which Basquiat knew so well.
