Reception: Thursday, July 30, 2020, 6-8 PM
InquireFrom his native Madrid, Javier Rivas creates transcendent pieces about beauty, voluptuousness and life. His organic style evokes Spanish culture and the Atlantic Ocean. His work is full of symbolism and color that delve into the nature of reality: the infinite possibilities of the female body, its mysteries and curves, flourishing nature.
In his works figures always emerge with great force from the darkness, they exude life and are captured in their moment of fullness. They are organic volumes, impossible shapes, and twisted images. Rivas’ sculptures are small wonders of natural engineering. They are made of steel or chrome-plated exotic woods or represent small sections of the female body in white resin. Rivas also works digitally from his own drawings.
