Vasant Dora paints spontaneously and fluidly, letting each stroke of the brush or knife give direction to the next stroke until a train of thoughts emerge on the canvas. At times these visual thoughts may be in harmony and at times in conflict. In each art work a single abstract idea yields multiple journeys for the artist that are neither in confrontation nor in complete consonance with the content. Of late in his paintings like the Dawn or the series on Aks meaning reflections he opens “ windows “ for the viewers, to participate and weave their own stories.
Dora creates paintings like Amaltaas - 1 and Deconstructed Form – 1, by allowing emotion guide his hand. Often in his art work figurative content is subtly present in Dora’s abstract composition.
