Stefano Puleo is an Italian artist based out of Sicily who creates brilliantly modern compositions that are absolutely brimming with Mediterranean colors. Interested in tried and true subject matter, Puleo combines classically posed female nudes with a variety of scenes including crowded rooms with warped perspectives, as well as bathers in the wilderness. Puleo’s deft with color and composition is absolutely striking, calling to mind past masters such as Picasso and Cezanne in their prime. His landscapes in particular contain a refreshing familiarity to Fauvist technique whilst still retaining a feeling of uniqueness. Although his preferred medium is oil paint, Puleo does branch out into acrylics as well as watercolors, pastels, and bronze.

Puleo has earned many awards for his work, including a Milan Arts and Culture Award in 2009, the International Prize Novecento from Palermo in 2017, a William II Prize in 2011, 1st International Prize of Culture from Palermo in 2015, and the City of Riccione Award in 1999. Further, in 2011 one of his works was acquired by the Museo Sciortino Di Monreale. Puleo is also a member of the Arcani Movement, which was founded by the art critic Paolo Levi and consists of 5 artists working in conjunction with Sangiorgio Art Gallery.
