Summer Solstice: Luminescence
June 3 - June 24, 2022 | Reception: June 9, 2022, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Agora Gallery is pleased to announce Summer Solstice: Luminescence, a group exhibition of paintings and photographs welcoming the incoming estival season, through the lens of light, color, and form. The summer solstice is the time when the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky in the Northern hemisphere. It marks the beginning of summer and is the day with the longest and most intense stretch of sunlight. The artists featured in this exhibition take us on a journey from darkness to light, chaos to simplicity – a healing pilgrimage that takes us further from the artificiality of this world back to our natural roots. As such, we are stripped of all that is superficial, keeping only the essential purity of materials and form. We observe aerial vistas of winding rivers and fields, catch glimpses of evanescent silhouettes, or revel in the pristine beauty of exotic bouquets. Nature is a nurturing force. It is the gentle comfort of the womb, the divine light shed on us mortals to illuminate our path.
