Dana Edmond’s work explores various forms of urban waste and its relationship to overconsumption. Her paintings are partially commentary on environmental issues and partially representations of nature seen through the lens of contemporary society. Working from photographs rather than actual memory, Edmonds develops forms that do not follow logical criteria but instead are based on subjective associations and formal parallels. In Bald Diva clutter is converted from the grotesque into something beautiful, inciting viewers to make new personal associations regarding art, everyday life and mass culture.
