Terence Finch is a New York-based artist, known for his vivid portrait paintings. His works have been described as "Lichtenstein meets [Chuck] Close.....with a big punch of pop,” and The Veteran is no exception to this. Riffing off of early works, which had leanings toward Military-and masculine-themed portraits, Finch has created a figure reminiscent of something from the weekly comics magazine “Commando,” with which the artist grew up as a child. Indeed, there’s something winsome about the way the painting’s figure is smiling, as though indifferent to the decorations which adorn his lapel.
