InquireIn "Suspendidas," Bogota-based artist, Mucha India echoes women in protest. Dressed in white for peace, they cover their eternal mourning. On the back of each portrait, the artist includes a ( black silhouette) a shadow: the hollow emptiness they harbor. The oil-on-transparent-acrylic paintings must be viewed on both sides: their faces, and the shadows and that live with them.
"I grew up in a country at war," said the artist. Salome's women are mothers of innocent civilians murdered by the Colombian National Army. Outraged by political, socio-cultural misgivings, Salome paints stories she refuses to put into obscurity, so those who struggle to claim justice and know the truth are seen.
