Virginia Robles-Villalba
The Latin American Fine Art Competition Exhibition
December 10 - December 20, 2019
Reception: Thursday, January 1, 1970, 6-8 PM
InquireVirginia Robles-Villalba ignites digital photography on canvas with concepts of memory and mysticism. Archetypal artifacts and celestial symbols reminiscent of pre-Columbian art orbit expansive and enigmatic imagined alternative universes.
The genesis of Robles-Villalba’s work emerged from investigations into her rich Puerto Rican (Boricua) heritage that encompasses the Taínos Indian, Spanish, and African cultures. Captivated by artistic spiritual intent of ancient artisans, Robles-Villalba intends for her imagery to be a metaphor for the transcendent journeys taken by shamans throughout history and a proud message of the power of indigenous spirituality.
