Reception: Thursday, September 10, 2020, 6-8 PM
InquireFor artist Natalia Chaplin, no medium is off-limits when she creates. Oil, watercolor, ink, soft pastel, graphite, charcoal, and acrylic are part of her repertoire to completing stunning portraits and colorful, often textured, compositions. The diverse subjects she captures are born out of a variety of everyday experiences; a piece of music that stirs something deep within or a jarring news article, a work of literature that can change the perception of things or even intrigue that she finds in nature, have all influenced her creative process.
With inspirations such as Paul Delaroche, Jason Brooks, Ansel Adams, and Marilyn Minter, Chaplin often blurs the boundaries between art and photography, realism and abstraction. “I like to think of my approach and process as one that is constantly in flux and evolves with wherever a certain body of work or lone idea may take me,” acknowledges Chaplin. Her passion for the arts, which has been passed down through generations, coupled with her life-experience, is reflected in the pieces of art she creates.
