Utilizing textile and mixed media, Saskia Weishut-Snapper's works are a hybrid of painting and quilting.  Each piece plays with abstraction and realism, balancing flattened fabrics with overlapping figures and scenes. Mark-making varies from artfully arranged blocks of rectangular cloth, sometimes with glistening thread, to carefully cut shapes and figures. Her works are explorations of whimsical landscape, fantasy buildings, along with subjects related to her Jewish heritage.

 

Weishut-Snapper pursued an education in her hometown of Bergen, a village in the north of Holland famous for its art colony, in which her parents were active. She turned to textile arts in 1970.
