InquireAnabela Maravilhas uses methods and perspectives borrowed from the sciences. That is to say, her works take on the appearance of something equally biological and abstract. The biological aspect derives from the cellular shapes and organic indications of movement that her works suggest. The sense of abstraction derives from the autonomy of these same forms.
Virus Eye pictures what appears to be a virus, yet the shapes exhibited are sundered from their biological purpose. Instead, viewers take in the formal dimensions of disease, without having to wonder at the harm these organized shapes might inflict.
