Izumi Ueda Yuu is a Japanese born artist whose work references deep and spiritual beliefs. Growing up, Yuu's grandmother kept many little Gods throughout their home, and every morning, Yuu watched her offer them water and fresh greens. The God shelves often frightened Yuu as a child, but with age, she grew to understand their significance.

Yuu is one of the finalists of the Luxembourg Art Prize 2019 and today, creates art inspired by animism, believing that things we use daily can be spirited, respected, and loved. Her etched artwork brings objects to life, and she aims to show the connection between art and everyday life.
