Reception: September 8, 2022, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
InquireGerman photographer Jacob Griese cleverly captures only the purest forms of nature’s essence in his photography. The darling face of a highland cattle; the haunting shadows of a forest’s canopy; mossy cliffs enveloping silky, blue currents–each of these focal points, an entrancing scene unveiled by Griese on fine art or Hahnemühle paper and concealed behind acrylic glass. The discovery of his father’s old cameras ignited the interest and knack for nature and landscape photography that persists within him today. This encouraged Griese to constantly discover new places, whether it was biking across the rugged highlands of Iceland or backpacking to the foot of Mount Everest, his taste for adventure and source for inspiration became endless. He finds influence in Romanticism and the works of Kai Hornung and Thomas Heaton. Although young, his craft and approach to the artform has already adapted and developed. Due to the pandemic and its travel restrictions, remaining local trained his photographer eyes to find the perfect image in anything. “I started to trust the feeling I have in a certain location, which I then try to translate into a photograph,” he admits.
As an active member of the art world, Griese participates in photography competitions to receive informative critiques and connect with other creatives. In the past year, he has sold several of his images and was a nominee in the landscape category of the Fine Art Photography Awards and an honorable mention in the International Photography Awards. Griese is currently studying medical engineering in Erlangen, Germany while simultaneously contributing to his mission of capturing and sharing the beauty of every moment.
