Stuart Ross grew up in an artistic family. His father, an illustrator, taught him how to draw, and Ross brought his father’s teachings into the classroom. His skill stuck out to his teachers even at an early age, and Ross knew at that point that he wanted to become an artist. Later on, Ross transitioned into graphic design, earning a Diploma of Arts in Graphic Art and Design. More recently, however, Ross has re-discovered his love and passion for painting, desiring a pivot toward analog creation in an increasingly digital world.

Ross is particularly adept at channeling emotion into portraiture, forging a connection between the viewer and his artwork. His use of oil paint adds a certain indescribable, ethereal quality to his canvases, which he describes as Impressionistic Realism. This name also derives from the inspiration he gains from the nineteenth century Realism and Impressionism movements as well as the stylized realism of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Ross currently lives in his home country, Australia, with his family, where in his new painting career he has already been recognized as a finalist in the Art Lovers Australia art prize. Ultimately, Ross’s work conveys a simple message, devoid of political meaning and rife with emotionality. He leans into the visual properties of his medium in order to ignite our inner feelings and emotions through mood, atmosphere, and beauty.
