Iwatsuki evokes the wabi-sabi philosophy in what she paints—wabi the beauty coming from simplicity, sabi the serenity that comes with age. "The true beauty exists in our daily lives. I'm always trying to capture it," said the artist. When everyday universal beauty is laid bare through pure looking, beauty and imperfection align to create clarity for the viewer, an understanding without words.
