Indian artist Vinod More creates compelling abstract expressionist paintings with a primitivist bent that are as laden with emotional meaning as they are stunning in visual content. Combining rich, resonant color with often shadowy forms, More masterfully builds compositions that speak to the most basic truths of our existence. He works initially from writings, slowly translating words into form and color as he seeks to capture the very vibrations, or essence, beyond an idea — taking the viewer on a journey into the very depths of the human self. Above all, the artist seeks to achieve a deeper understanding of life and the intersections between humanity, science, philosophy, spirituality, and ultimately God. As More explains, “I try to speak universal language that comes through emotional traumas. I am always keen on removing subjective influence and work on core emotional values. Mainly, my art is influenced by physical and emotional destruction and disturbance that humankind has created in peaceful and beautiful nature.” Vinod More currently lives and works in Mumbai.
