ABOUT AGORA GALLERY

Founded by the late Miki Stiles in 1984 on Greene Street in Soho, Agora Gallery was a hub of emerging artistic talent from its inception. Stiles, MFA, produced her own work and curated group exhibitions with artists working in similar mediums and methodologies.

Ms. Stiles continued her mission to provide artists with a range of promotional services including career development, advice by professionals in the arts and the opportunity to connect and exhibit their artwork in New York City. She has done that for many years until her untimely passing in 2001. As the years progressed Soho declined and In 2002, Agora Gallery moved to 530 West 25th Street, in Chelsea, which had become the new center of the art world.

Over the years the gallery moved to an impressive street level space in Chelsea and the main focus has shifted and these days the gallery mainly curates exhibitions of established contemporary and modernist works but our founder's vision was not forgotten and artists are welcome to connect with AGIFineart which provide a host of career development and exhibition opportunities for artists.

What is the meaning of Agora? Agora is a Greek word which means “open marketplace,” a place where people come not only to buy and sell goods but also to meet and exchange news and ideas – a place where everyone is welcome. The gallery takes its name seriously and is famous for showcasing a spectacular array of talented artists from around the world and around the corner as well as providing quality original art to a discerning collector base.
