Dorothée Fischer
RenseignerDorothée Fischer has been a talented artist and designer in New York City for over two decades, and holds a BFA in Interior Design and Textile Arts from Syracuse University. Woven metals became an early passion for the designer, an art that she has mastered over her career. Using techniques traditionally associated with textile and fiber work, Fischer weaves polished on oxidized copper, bronze, brass, nickel silver, sterling silver, and fine silver into intricate patterns, which take on the form of large and small scale metal tapestries and sculptures. Fischer’s works are inspired by concepts of shifting energy and natural balance, signified through treatment and handling of materials. Fischer uses a variety of tools to fold, pleat, and weave her tapestries, but they are all made by her hand. The accomplished artist has created countless installations, design schemes, interior spaces, and varied-scale pieces, which can be found everywhere from boutique hotels, major banks, private residences, and museums around the world.
