Nascido em Sevilha, Espanha, José María Peña earned his fine arts degree in Conservation and Restoration from the University of Seville. Drawing on knowledge gleaned through restoration, Peña offers an updated take on Baroque and 19th Century Realist painting, creating striking portraits of the human experience. Through his oils, Peña hopes to illuminate the soul. “My passion is to tell stories through a look, a gesture, or a scene,” Peña says, “and most of all, the constant search for beauty.” José María Peña lives and works in Seville.
